2019 was a big year for the LCN sports teams with many league and tournament championships. Here is a recap of the L’Anse Creuse North athletics.

LCN football ended with a 5-4 record not making the playoffs. They fought hard but was just not close enough. They switched off two quarterbacks Justin Szumanski and Antonio Lafata. They ended their season with a four game losing streak causing them to not make playoffs.

LCN Boys Varsity soccer had a great season. They ended with a 10-4-3 record (10 wins, 4 losses, 3 ties) and ended up winning the MAC White division over the Romeo Bulldogs by one point. They came into the playoffs against Port Huron Northern and won. They ended up advancing to the District Finals, and lost to Eisenhower in the finals.

Girls’ varsity basketball had a great season in the MAC Blue division. They ended with an overall record of 15-7 record placing third in the MAC Blue. They went into the MAC Blue/Gold tournament and played very well. In the finals, the played Lakeview but came just short of the championship 42-41. They went to the district tournament and played their first game against arch rivals Anchor Bay and came out with the win to advance to the district finals. They played Port Huron Northern and lost 50-38, but the Crusaders led by Captains Alex Lavey, ‘19 and Lauren Peraino ‘19.

Boys Varsity Basketball had a rough season going 1-19 and finding a place in the playoffs. Their first game of districts they faced Anchor Bay. It was a very close match all game, but they fell just short in the first round 40-39. This season they had many seniors, next year it will be a different story with a younger group coming in.

The spring sports are not yet finished, but boys Varsity Lacrosse have a 10-6 record and play their final regular season game against Dakota High School. They are looking to come into the playoffs strong and advance to the next round with a older, more experienced group of guys.
