Every year USA Today runs a contest to name the top 10 best things worldwide. From small towns, to marathons, to best music festivals, but one of the biggest categories that they name every year is Best Art Museum.

The voting starts at the beginning of the new year and every day a new category opens up that can be voted on till the day ends. At the end of February the voting for Best Art Museum opened and by the end of the week the Detroit Institute of Arts was named the best art museum in America. In USA Today’s article about the results they exclaimed that the DIA had “wondrous selections of over 65,000 art pieces to view.” The DIA posted to social media to share the news, saying, “We are beyond thrilled and honored to share that the Detroit Institute of Arts has been named the ‘Best Art Museum’ by the great folks at USA TODAY in their 10Best Readers’ Choice travel awards! We couldn’t be prouder of our museum, our amazing team, and the community we serve. We will continue to work hard to provide incredible experiences for our visitors and to celebrate the power of art in all its forms. Thank you again for this amazing recognition!”

The DIA winning Best Art Museum in America was not the only win for Detroit,MI. The Detroit Riverfront was named the best riverwalk and Campus Martius was named the best public square this year. Winning these awards not only brings more and more people to these attractions but also gives everyone the chance to enjoy these places even if they dont live that close. Every year the DIA plans to bring more and more art pieces to keep Detroit engrossed in all the culture.
